Weather and Disaster Experts Traveling

Chief Meteorologist Catherine Cumberbatch was in Saint John's Antigua for all of last week. She was there to attend the 57th Session of the Caribbean Meteorological Council and Related Meetings.

The chief meteorologists discussed the impacts of the past hurricane season, which viewers know was particularly active with major hurricanes that devastated Caribbean island nations. The meteorologists also discussed the impacts of the rainy season.

So while the Chief Meteorologist was in Antigua, Colin Gillett, the Deputy National Emergency Coordinator, and Suleima Celiz, the Orange Walk District NEMO Coordinator were in Mexico City last week Wednesday and Thursday.

They were there to attend a technical meeting for the Mesoamerican Network for Integrated Risk Management. A press release from NEMO says that this network for integrated risk management is a component of the larger Mesoamerica Integration and Development Project, which includes all Central American countries, Colombia, and the Dominican Republic

The objective of the Mesoamerican Network for Integrated Risk Management is work toward reducing the vulnerability of Mesoamerica to natural disasters.
