Man Charged For Counterfeit, Detained in Larger Investigation
posted (November 27, 2017)
Today twenty-three-year-old construction worker Nijar Brandon of La Democracia was charged with possession of counterfeit currency when he appeared in court before magistrate Michelle Trapp. On November 23rd at around 3:30 they went to his apartment on Pelican Street. They didn't find any firearms or drugs, but they did find two counterfeit 50 Belize dollar notes. Brandon pled guilty but said he got the money from a man whom bought a pair of shoes from him. With that Magistrate Trapp entered an equivocal plea of not guilty and he was offered a bail of $200 which he met. However, as soon as he met bail two CIB officers took him into custody because our sources say he is a person of interest in an ongoing high profile investigation.
