Police’s Puzzling Response Over Alleged Station Rape
posted (November 27, 2017)
There is still no update and no charges tonight on that allegation of rape made by two women against multiple officers in the Independence police station. But, an interesting thing is happening: because the commander of the professional standards branch - which is investigating the case - has apparently been barred from appearing on the media - the police left to speak on the case appear quite confused. Today they told us the following three things in succession: first, that the file WILL BE forwarded to the DPP, then that the file HAS BEEN forwarded to the DPP, and then that the file IS BEING forwarded to the DPP. Here are the explanations offered to us today at the bi-weekly press brief:..

ASP Alejandro Cowo
"As we mentioned that file is being dealt with by the professional standards branch and as soon as they complete their investigation and everything they will let you know what is the stance of the police department when it comes to that alleged rape."

ACP Dezerie Magdaleno - Regional Commander, Eastern Division
"Additional to that remember it was sent to the office of the DPP."

Jules Vasquez, reporter
"So it was sent?"

ACP Dezerie Magdaleno
"Well, that was update we got. The procedure is that the file will be sent to the DPP for a directive."

Jules Vasquez
"Ok, so it hasn't been sent and it will be sent?"

ACP Dezerie Magdaleno
"I cannot say and that's why I wanted to clarify. Because the police department is not saying it has been sent because that's what you all will say. It will be sent for a directive."

Jules Vasquez
"It will be sent but there is no urgency to complete the investigation?"

ACP Dezerie Magdaleno
"It will be sent whenever it is completed."

Jules Vasquez
"But you all have no urgency to charge your own. That's the inevitable conclusion; the guy remains on duty. Let me not aggravate you or me, we are talking about a very dead horse."

We confirmed independently that the FILE IS WITH THE DPP.
