Bradley Bows To PM’s Maneuverings
posted (November 30, 2017)
And while the Chamber probably wasn't too impressed with the Prime Minister - the Mayor of Belize City definitely was. Now, he's an attorney, and known to speak out against his own party from time to time. But, this time, he latched unto his PM's position:

Darrell Bradley, Mayor - Belize City
"I listened to the presentation by the prime minister yesterday and I can say I was very humbled as a Belizean in relation to how he well-articulated the concerns and how he championed the issue for the Belizean public. I think that he rightly pointed out that two courts had indicated that this was an illegal arrangement. They went through some situations mean in terms of securing enforcement there are certain requirements that had to be made so that for an appropriation to be made that has to be done by an appropriation made that notwithstanding, I will only say that I stand by the prime minister and statements that he made. If in fact there is a judgement which there is I think that represents a blight on the former government and all persons that were in involved in procuring that because I think the prime minister rightly pointed out that there can be and there must be a distinction between the situation with BTL and that in that in the case of BTL you have a very valuable enterprise which I think the prime minister forecasted would have generated over a billion dollars in profits so that notwithstanding the fact that you had to pay a significant amount of money for that you have a profit earning entity that will generate money for many future generations to come and Belizeans can be satisfied that I paid but I got something. In the case of this judgement debt, the Belizean people are being made to pay by order of the court and we can show absolutely nothing for it so to the extent that there were any people that were elected who are responsible for that, I believe that those people have to be held accountable."

The matter will be taken to the house when the 21 days stipulated in the collection procedure expires. So, perhaps some time in mid-December.
