A Dozen Days of Christmas, Then...
posted (December 18, 2017)
After 12 days of giving back to the community, the City Council's 12 days of Christmas has come to an end. They made sure to end the giving spree with a bang by bringing cheer to children of the KHMH pediatric ward. We caught up Counsellor Dion Leslie and his helpers at the event this morning.

Dion Leslie, City Counsellor
"They decided to come to the pediatric ward to have some music, have gifts for all the children here, and you know to bring joy to them while they are in the hospital. Some may stay past Christmas some may come out before but we are still here to spread joy."

"We have food. We have Mr. Lawrence who is a City Council employee as well playing music and singing. We are going to be mingling with them and talking to them and bringing that joy to them. Of course, we will have gifts at the end."

Orson Butler, 12 Days of Christmas Volunteer
"I actually helped around the community in asking a lot of questions to the kids like what they expected for their Christmas this year and listened to answers."

"I actually like helping the community and spreading the word to my community that it is actually good to help others."

Orion Butler, 12 Days of Christmas Volunteer
"I helped with a lot of people. Sometimes when they don't have food my teacher gave me money to go and buy the food for them."

Sahar Vasquez, reporter
"What do you want for Christmas?"

Orion Butler, 12 Days of Christmas Volunteer
"Love and kisses from my mom and dad."

Over the twelve days, the council entertained the elderly and went to various schools to spread cheer, and, maybe, just maybe pick up a few votes.
