Tonight, 7News has received credible information that a practicing Belizean attorney is being sought for extradition to the US to face money laundering charges.  Reports to us say the extradition request was received as recently as last week. 

Seems this attorney was involved in a scheme to launder millions of dollars disguised as the sale of a local advertising business.  But the person who this attorney was setting up the sale with turned out to be an agent of the US government, pretending to be a businessman with millions to launder.  

So, basically, it was a sting operation. And, because it was set up by the Americans - local law enforcement agencies funded by the US - also provided security when the movement of as much as half a million dollars in cash was involved.  

It’s a sensational story, but also a late breaking one and we’ll have more on it tomorrow.
