The mayor of San Ignacio and his wife escaped unhurt from a serious Boxing Day accident.  It happened in the afternoon between miles 36 and 37 on the Phillip Goldson Highway.  

Mayor Trapp was driving a Red Ford Ranger Pickup from Orange Walk to Belize City and a Green Toyota Corolla taxi driven by 40 year old  Ricardo Carcamowas travelling in the opposite direction from Belize City to Orange Walk Collided into the Ford Ranger. The impact caused the Corolla to flip.  The driver’s leg was broken and he had head injuries. He is in a stable condition at the KHMH.
