Court Clerk Arraigned For Theft From Court

He's the clerk of court, but today 29-year-old Shawn Lord was taken before that court and charged for theft from the San Ignacio Magistrate's Court.

Lord is a First Class Clerk at the Belize City Magistrate's Court, but when he arrived at work today - he was taken to another court, the one in San Ignacio. That's where Magistrate Hurl Hamilton read him a single charge of theft. The allegation is that earlier this year, he dishonestly appropriated the sum of $2,010 from the Cayo Magistrate's Court.

He was granted bail of $1,000 dollars and is due back in Court on February 28, 2018.

We are told that this is not the first allegations of theft made against him. In 2016, Lord was placed on 90 days administrative leave after misappropriation of funds under his care, in the sum of $2,400 went missing. He is now on interdiction until the outcome of his theft case.
