BEL Says Don’t Put Trees Close To Powerlines
posted (December 28, 2017)
One week after Hugo Polanco was electrocuted in Independence Village, BEL has issued a warning about working dangerously close to power lines.

Polanco was killed while trimming a tree near to a power line, and BEL quote, "is pleading to the public to desist from constructing structures and planting trees near power lines."

It also wants, quote, "When planning to construct or work within 15 feet of a power line, always contact BEL for guidance before commencing. Do not plant trees in the path of overhead power lines. Do not trim trees that are growing over or into overhead power lines; instead, contact BEL for assistance."

BEL note that this is the second electrocution in the south this year. In June, a construction worker was electrocuted in Placencia while working close to high voltage power lines.
