And about an hour before that city murder on New Years Day - a man was chopped in Corozal. The victim is Alejandro Yam. He survived what we are told is a massive brawl and is recovering at the hospital. But his attacker is also recovering at another hospital up North because Yam fought back and stabbed him. Police had more on this bloody fight.

"There was a stabbing in Corozal district in the Loiseville Village sometime around 2:30 am yesterday morning. One Alejandro Yam reported that while walking in the village, he was attacked by a group of male persons one of whom chopped him to the lower back and in the process of defending himself he inflicted a stab wound to one Eric Cob who was a part of the group."
As you heard, both are recovering at separate hospitals.
