Domestic Disputes Lead to Arson Cases
posted (January 2, 2018)
There were two house fires that happened around the same time on Saturday night - one in Dangriga and one in Orange Walk. And in both cases, they appear to be motivated by domestic issues. Regarding the case down South, an enraged man burnt down his ex-wife's house at Mile 25 on the Southern Highway. Home owner Innocenta Bol met her ex-husband Feliciano Ical, on the way to the store. He told her "right now you will see what will happen". Then he ran over to her house and allegedly lit it on fire. The home owner in the Orange Walk arson was also threatened. Diana Mai reported that a man she knows as Catelino Urizar threatened her with a machete and then burnt down her house. Police didn't go into all these details at the press briefing but said they are following up on the reports.

ACP Joseph Myvette, Head National Crimes Investigation
"During the first arson one Innocenta Bol of miles 25 on the southern highway reported that she had a discussion with a male person and shortly thereafter she observed that her thatch and wooden house was on fire. In regards to this matter police are seeking one person as the house was completely destroyed by fire along with its contents. In relation to the second report of arson, Diana Mai of Trail farm village Orange Walk reported that her common law husband had an altercation with a neighbor and as consequence he lit her house on fire damaging some of her belongings. One person has since been detained pending this investigation."

Both men in the separate arson cases have been detained.
