posted (January 5, 2018)
Robert Gentle, the Ranchito resident who police charged for that runaway Lincoln Navigator SUV that was was carrying over 6 kilos of cocaine across the Belize Mexican Border, is also out on bail tonight.

Police took 3 weeks to track Gentle down, and after only 2 nights in jail, his attorney, Leslie Hamilton applied for Supreme Court bail. Justice Antoinette Moore heard the grounds for the bail application, and after getting input from Crown Counsel Jackie Willoughby, she granted him bail of $10,000. He has to attend all hearings of the criminal case his facing at the Corozal Magistrate's Court, until the case is disposed of. He also has to report to the Corozal Police Station every Friday, and he is not to interfere with the prosecution's witness.

As we told you, the driver of that white Lincoln Navigator crashed into a gate at the Belize Customs area on December 13, at the Santa Elena Border. He was trying to escape the Mexican authorities who noticed something unusual in the cab of the vehicle on their x-ray. As soon as they informed that driver that he was selected for a secondary search, he sped off toward the Belize City, and he crashed into the fence.

That driver jumped out and ran off on foot, escaping before the authorities could corner him. Law enforcement retrieved 6.328 kilos of cocaine on the vehicle.

Of note is that 2 weeks ago, two men charged with trafficking for 5.07 kilograms of cocaine in Belize City, were released on bail of $100,000 each, offered to them by Justice Adolph Lucas. In this instance, the quantity of cocaine was, as we told you 6.32 kilos, over 1.2 kilos more than the amount than the two previous defendants, yet Gentle was able to get a bail in a sum that was 90 thousand dollars less.
