29 year old Quincy Gentle was shot and killed last night on Kelly Street. Gentle was on his way home when a gunman pounced on him. Gentle was hit to the chest and stomach. He died at the hospital just before midnight. Courtney Weatherburne has more on what’s behind this killing.

Quincy Gentle had been working among these kitchen attendants at Chon Saan for half of 2017.

Then he joined the team at the front desk.

“He used to be a hard worker that is why we give him a promotion to come out here instead of being in the kitchen.â€￾

Although Gentle stopped working at Chon Saan, he would still walk past the Kelly Street restaurant almost every day on his way home.

But last night he never made it back to his family because a gunman shot him in front of this Warehouse - a few feet from Chon Saan.

“On the way coming home they say that a vehicle came up to him and fire shot because it was close range caught him.â€￾

Gentle then ran over to Chon Saan and collapsed at the door.

“I didn’t know it was him but when I went outside I notice it was him, it was so frightening. And one of our workers try give him a drop to try save his life because he was hollering he doesn’t want to die, he doesn’t want to die. It was so sad.â€￾

According to Gentle’s sister, he didn’t deserve to be gunned down.

“My brother is not a really violent person, I never hear him kill nobody, you know, and thing. And I know he been around with other friends and members or gangs or whatever, but he is not like that, you understand me, but it was somebody he knew that violate him and took his life you know.â€￾

And police say that Gentle may have been killed as a result of the recent gang related shootings in the Victoria Street/Pink’s Alley area.

“The information that we have gathered so far it is pointing us to a direction that it has to do some involvement with another previous shooting that had happened in that same area there. Now, ahm, is this persons affiliated with PIV or Pinks Alley, or...it is said that he belonged to one of the gangs on that sideâ€￾

But regardless of the motive, Gentle’s family now has to heal from the pain caused by the loss of yet another loved one.

“Yes, so now my other brother you know. My mother can’t even stand up, my mother is grieving, crying you know but by the grace of God we are still standing here.â€￾ 

Gentle had no kids. We had interviewed him in 2014 when he was working as a supervisor for the Douglas Jones Canal Project. His brother, Giovanni Gentle was murdered in July 2016 at the corner of Regent Street West and Thurton Lane.
