Since last week Tuesday when Carmelita resident Andy Rhaburn bludgeoned his 56 year old mother Braulia Pech to death with a crowbar - the 26 year old has been on the run. Repeated sightings were reported in the village - but he remained on the loose and police addressed it at 11:15 this morning:

"It is a matter that he is moving up and down and we do not have that exact information as to where he is. However we know that the Orange Walk police are conducting several searches within Carmelita and other places within the highway; information is that he is hiding in different locations."
One hour after Cowo said that, the cops found Rhaburn - but it was no easy surrender.
At 12:30 p.m., Police responded to reports that Rhaburn had been seen in the area between miles 44 and 45 on the Phillip Goldson Highway - which is on the outskirts of Carmelita Village.
He was hiding in the bushed, about a quarter mile in. When they penetrated through to that area, they called him out. But police say he came out on the attack with a machete. One of the officers fired a single shot which caught him on the left arm and left hip.
Rhaburn was taken to the Northern Regional Hospital where he is listed in a stable condition under Police guard.
He is expected to face charges of murder for killing his mother Braulia Pech, and wounding, for assaulting another woman with the crowbar.
Today, the Peach family declined comment. They have said previously that their brother gave their mother a great deal of trouble - and needed regular medication to remain calm.
