And while two have been charged for that murder - one more person may be charged for Alfredo Cowo's murder on San Pedro. But, there was only one gunman - and information to 7News is that police are considering the possibility that they may have charged the wrong man the first time around.
That's William Godoy but new evidence suggests that he may not be the assailant.
His family has been confident from the time of his arrest that their loved one was not the one who murdered Cowo.
They have been very vocal about it on social media and were even planning to have a protest, but now it seems they are going to step back and leave it in the hands of the authorities. Today on San Pedro we spoke to his brother about it:
Alfredo Godoy, Brother
"Well we are just leaving this in the police hands because they know what they are doing but all I have to say is that he is innocent. 100% innocent."
Sahar Vasquez, reporter
"And what is the proof that you guys have? Do you know where he was?"
Alfredo Godoy, Brother
"He lived by himself and the time that happened he was at home. That is what he says that was at home and he can't really prove that to anyone because he lives by himself. That is why they picked him up."
Sahar Vasquez
"But does he have any relation to the deceased or was he in any trouble before?"
Alfredo Godoy, Brother
"Nope, as far as I know, they were friends. They were friends just like I am with them too. We were friends. We did not ever have any kind of problems with them."
Sahar Vasquez
"So do you know why the police picked him up?"
Alfredo Godoy, Brother
"What I found out is the lady who was with the deceased she was accusing him."
Alfredo Godoy, Brother
"He got arrested the night of the wake. According to what I know my brother went to the wake. He was there for a couple hours. I don't know what happened over there but after that they arrested him."
Sahar Vasquez
"So you guys said you were going to have a protest but now you're not so sure?"
Alfredo Godoy, Brother
"I am not sure about the protest. I think we are just going to wait to see what happens."
"They have some proof that he is innocent so I think they are looking for someone else. He does not match with the size of the body or anything like that. It looks like the person is clear skinned and my brother is a little dark."
Island police are re-examining the entire murder investigation and the new suspect may reportedly have a connection to someone in law enforcement.
