Why Was Hattieville Working Man Killed? Not Even Cops Know
posted (January 29, 2018)
And while that was Friday night - by early Saturday morning - there would be another murder - this one - an all too familiar type of Belize City killing: a man found shot to death on the street.

Except in this case, the victim, 36-year-old Hattieville resident Jermaine Hyde was no kind of criminal - and no kind of gangster. So why was he shot in the head?.

Police told us today that they are puzzled:

ASP Alejandro Cowo, OC - CIB
"The investigation has shown that Mr. Hyde had just left from the Tacos place which is located by Swing Bridge and was heading towards Thurton Lane when he was suddenly approached by an unknown male person who fired on single shot at him, causing the fatal injuries. He used to work at the old Novelo's Bus Terminal or the terminal that is being used at this moment."

"Up to now we do not have anything to point out to say that he belonged to any gang or to say that he was involved in any illegal activity that might have contributed to his death."

Reporter
"There is also a surveillance camera, are there any footage picked up?"

ASP Alejandro Cowo, OC - CIB
"We have dealt with those footages in that area. We noh have no suspect at this time."

"The motive up to now is very uncertain and unknown to us at this moment. We know that he does not live here in Belize City, normally he only stays here in Belize City when he is working early in the morning."

Police are reviewing security video in the area - but have not detained any suspects.
