Jackson Family Not Happy With Police
posted (January 29, 2018)
At the top of the news, we took you to Punta Gorda for the protest that the family members and friends of the late Mario Vernon organized.

Well, while we were there, we ran into the family of 20 year-old Carlos Jackson Jr. He was the young chef from the Placencia restaurant Rumfish Y Vino, who was murdered on the Peninsula over the long Christmas Holiday weekend.

Well, it's been over a month, and his family is dissatisfied because police have made no progress in solving the case and bringing criminal charges. On Saturday, his mother told us that it has been frustrating trying to follow up with Placencia Police, especially because they are from the Toledo village of San Pedro Colombia. Here's how she explained why she thinks the cops aren't doing enough:

Albina Jackson - Mother of the Deceased
"This incident happened in Placencia and its a distance away from our home because we come from the village of San Pedro Colombia and when we reached there we tried to move as a family and right now my family, we still can't get over it because it hurt us so much, as my son was never a trouble maker out there. My son was loving caring, always sharing, he was always giving to people whatever he finds at my house he is always giving to them because he said other people need it, mommy, I will give them. If we don't have any use for it, I will give them he said because that is who he is. At the age of 20, he is just starting his life. It's just 20 years old and that is what is hurting us right now because when it happened that day up to today I can say that the officers there at Placencia haven't given me any information. All I'm hearing is rumors on the street in Placencia and Mango Creek side, they say police is saying this, they can't find the murderer of that young man, so the case is going to be closed up to today I am the one who is calling and they give me this same information that they are still waiting for videos, that they send to BTL, they still have my sons phone. My son got that last call and that I know is the person who lured him to his death. My son is not a troublesome person and he was going back. I know that he was set up."

Rose Marie Jackson - Sister of the Deceased
"We haven't gotten any closure to it. Think about it people say life goes on, I can feel for Miss Vernon, when your family relative is sick and they passed away you have an ease because you know they were suffering, but for you to have a loved one being murdered with no justice being served, that hurts the most."

Jacksons family says he left San Pedro Colombia to find work on Placencia. He would travel home to San Pedro Columbia on his days-off cause he still lived with his mother.
