Man Wants Peace with Police Who Beat Him
posted (January 30, 2018)
Tonight, the brothers, 28 year-old Kenrick Gamboa and 24 year-old Akeem Gamboa, who are both police officers, are free after grievous harm charges were dismissed against them.

The victim, 20 year-old Michael Crawford, reported to police that on January 28, 2017, exactly a year ago, he was hanging out at a house on the outskirts of Belize City when the Gamboa brothers and another man rushed him. He told police that one of his assailants then pulled out a weapon and fired it at him.

Crawford fled, but he was chased into Belize City, and he claims that the men caught him and put a beatdown on him. His mother made a report and he positively identified both brothers as his alleged assailants.

The Gamboa brothers were jointly charged with grievous harm, and Kenrick Gamboa was additionally charged with aggravated assault with a firearm.

When the case was called up yesterday before Magistrate Michelle Trapp, Crawford told the court that he no longer wanted any court action against the brothers. He said that he and the Gamboa brothers had come a resolution, and that all he wanted was peace between them and himself. The Magistrate asked him if he was threatened or coerced in anyway to drop the charges, and he told the court that he was not.

Outside of court, Crawford told reporters that he and the brothers had a disagreement over a woman, who is no longer in the picture, and that he is hoping that he will have no further disputes with the Gamboa brothers.
