Security Guard Remanded For Stabbing Another Security Guard
posted (February 2, 2018)
Last night we told you about 34-year-old Kenrick Valencio, the security guard who was stabbed in front of the Novelo's Bus Terminal early on Thursday morning.

Today, the man accused of stabbing him - another security guard named John Brackett was charged for Attempted Murder. Magistrate Michelle Trapp read the charge which alleged that the 49 year old Brackett attempted to murder Valencio with the use of a deadly weapon.

No plea was taken, but Magistrate Trapp asked him if he had any special reasons why he should be granted bail. He asked the court to consider that he is a diabetic, and that he is also a dedicated father who works hard and has a job as the sole provider for his family. The police Prosecutor objected, saying that there is very strong evidence to lead to a conviction in the case against Brackett. After considering what both sides had to say, Magistrate Trapp denied Brackett bail. He can still apply for bail through the Supreme Court.

Turns out that Brackett's alleged motive was a misunderstanding earlier in the night at the Princess Casino where Valencio was working security. Valencio told police that at 10:40 on Wednesday night he was on duty when he refused to let Brackett into the Casino due to his behaviour. He next met Brackett at 5:00 the next morning when he was in front of the Novelo's Bus Terminal waiting for bus. They started exchanging words and he alleges Brackett pulled out a knife and stabbed him in the midsection.
