Former FFB Gen. Sec. Sued Federation For Wrongful Termination
posted (February 6, 2018)
The Football Federation of Belize continues to enjoy a period calm and orderly management of the sport after the FFB Congress finally elected President Sergio Chuc and Cruz Gamez to fill the posts of President and Vice President.

But, before that, there was over a 1 year and half of turmoil, in-fighting and jostling for power. During that time, the apparently untouchable General Secretary, Michael Blease, was terminated. That dismissal turned into a lawsuit when Blease took them to court alleging wrongful termination.

That case was supposed to have been argued today before Justice Courtney Abel, our information says that the attorneys showed up and informed the judge that the case had been settled through mediation.

We understand that Blease was asking the court to award him 200 thousand dollars in compensation. There are confidentiality clauses attached the settlement, but we are informed that his compensation was in the range of thousands instead of the couple hundred thousand he was asking for.

So, why did the FFB have to settle? Well, we are told that it dates back to an employment contract that Former President Ruperto Vicente signed giving him tenure well beyond Vicente's term in office. We contacted Vicente for comment, and he told us that he prefers not to grant any at this time.
