He Killed His Friend With a shot To The Head in a Drunken Game Of Russian Roulette
posted (February 9, 2018)
He killed his friend while playing a game of Russian Roulette, and today the court told Edwardo Torres, he's free to go, with only a fine.

It happened back in May of 2013, when 32-year-old John Paul Fernandez and 40 year old Edwardo Torres were in the parking lot of the Palm Island nightclub playing with a licensed gun. According to witnesses, Fernandez told Torres to put the 9 millimeter pistol in his mouth and pull the trigger. The gun went off, killing Fernandez instantly, and Torres ran off.

He was initially charged for manslaughter but, in court, today he pleaded guilty to unlawful harm through negligence of a firearm.

Justice Marilyn Williams fined him $15,000, with no prison sentence. Justice Williams said that the fact that he pleaded guilty saved him from a custodial sentence. She also noted that he and the deceased were friends - and that at the time of the shooting, the two men were talking and laughing with each other. She also listened to prosecution witnesses who said they heard when the deceased told Torres to put the gun in his mouth. Still, she cautioned him for reckless behavior and told him what every child and adult should know, that a gun is not a toy to play with. She concluded by saying that she found no malicious intent in his action, and imposed the non-custodial sentence with a fine.
