He ran over and killed a three year old, and today 40-year-old BDF Civilian Driver, Hubert Martinez begged the court for mercy. He pleaded guilty to manslaughter by negligence and said he is sorry for his action.
In December of 2013, 3-year-old Jahston Terry was walking on the sidewalk with his 5-year-old brother when suddenly, Martinez's van charged unto the sidewalk hitting both brothers. Little Jahston died on impact from a head injury.
A terrible accident, but he wasn't drunk, and his attorney Bryan Neal submitted that Martinez is very remorseful.
Martinez - on his own behalf - asked the court for leniency and not to send him to prison for his action since he is the bread-winner of his family of 3 boys and a wife.
Justice Marilyn Williams has reserved her sentencing upon Martinez for February 14th.
