Violence And The Family In PG
posted (February 9, 2018)
Yesterday the Building People Movement hosted a conference in Punta Gorda named Violence and the Family.

The focus of the conference was to assist people in having a peaceful home and giving them tools and services to use. One of the presenters told us more.

Margaret Nicholas, Executive Director of National Committee for Families and Children/Presenter
"One of the things I really and truly talked about was the number of domestic violence cases that are in Belize City and in Punta Gorda and its effect on the children. We also discussed the whole issue of tolerance and violence. We also discussed the whole issue of youth and violence and how it affects them. We looked at some of the major effects, for instance, aggression and how it leads to other violence. We also discussed the harbour that violence plays in our society in terms of resources including health and other important resources."

Attendee
"I believe that this conference was not just beneficial but it was needed in the community. Why? Well, it gave the opportunity to build partnerships and enlargen our different networks."

Doctors, nurses, social workers were among the many attendees at the conference.
