From Belize Chief Magistrate To The High Court in BVI
posted (February 13, 2018)
Last year in July, we told you how former Chief Magistrate Ann Marie Smith left the Magistracy in Belize to take up a post as a Judge on the Eastern Caribbean Supreme Court. She reached the official age of retirement last year, and after she vacated the Chief Magistrate's post here, she was succeeded by Senior Magistrate Sharon Frazer, who was officially appointed as the new chief in September.

Well, news out of the British Virgin Islands is that she will take up judicial office in that territory. As a judge on the Eastern Caribbean Supreme Court, she was assigned to the British Virgin Islands as a High Court Judge. Her tenure will take effect official on Thursday, February 15.

Smith, who brings almost 30 years of experience in the legal field, will replace Justice Nicola Byer, who is now serving as a judge in St. Vincent and the Grenadines.
