Cop Faces Fine For Firearm

Tonight, there is more information on that San Ignacio corporal who lost a service revolver that ended up in criminal hands in Orange Walk. The head of the professional standards branch ACP Chester Williams says that the officer reported that he was patrolling the Kontiki Area of San Ignacio when he was assaulted by two individuals who took away his firearm.

The PSB investigated and concluded that it was a case of Neglect. He pleaded guilty to the charge and was fined the maximum of two hundred dollars, along with a severe reprimand. He was also ordered to pay compensation of one thousand five hundred dollars to the Government, which is the cost of replacing the firearm.

It turned up in Orange Walk last weekend in the hands of a criminal suspect who fled from police and is still at large.
