posted (February 16, 2018)
Its name may not be in the news every other day like the Biltmore or the Radisson, but for two decades, the Great House Inn has been steadily building a reputation as a first class accommodation in the city.

The hotel celebrated its 20th anniversary yesterday. We spoke to the owner, veteran hotelier, Steve Maestre who shared more about the hotels' success:

Sahar Vasquez, reporter
"So tell us about the occupancy rates, how has that been going?"

Steve Maestre, Owner of The Great House Inn
"Actually we have been fortunate. We get our fair share."

"We get most of our business from North America. We get Europeans and from other parts of the world but Belize in general most of the tourism is from North America."

Sahar Vasquez
"Do you feel like you have enough rooms or are there times when you get overbooked?"

Steve Maestre
"There times when you feel in the offseason maybe you have a few too many and there are times in the high season you feel you don't have enough."

"All we have got to do which we continue to do is upgrade our product, stay competitive, head for our market, and give good service. That is all you can do. You have to compete on the open market. You can't close the doors to the outside world. You just have to be competitive."

The Great House Inn has 16 rooms in total has received three awards of excellence from Trip Advisor.
