The Police Department today took a sharp stride towards enhanced reporting of child sex abuse and exploitation. It's a partnership with the Internet Watch Foundation out of the UK and the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime.
They held a sensitization workshop at the George Price Center in Belmopan today.
They plan to launch a Child Sexual Abuse Reporting Portal in Belize. According to a release, the portal will be hosted on the Belize Police Department website where anyone can submit information on sexually explicit child imagery found, seen or shared online.
After this reporting, the UK experts will investigate the source of the offending imagery and remove it. The portal could be launched within two weeks.
