Now, as the PUP takes that manifesto to voters - politicians on both sides have already started to project how many votes they can get and where. As we’ve discussed before, the UDP has to find a way to counterbalance the division where the PUP has its biggest numerical lead - and that’s Lake Independence - the eminent domain of incumbent area rep Cordel Hyde. He’s got plenty of skin in this game - because basically it’s his slate - and the pressure is on him to deliver the city for the PUP after 12 years out of city hall.

"Well I tell you something, if you look at the figures for the general election in November of 2015, I think a share of the vote of the UDP here in Lake I was only 25% but when you totaled all the numbers for each of the 10 constituencies, had it been a city council election, even with that huge margin of victory here in Lake I for the PUP the UDP still would have won over. Also though I don't believe, in fact I am certain that Cordel Hyde's margin of victory in these municipal elections is not going to be what it was in the general elections in 2015. We will more than offset whatever margin Cordel wins by, we will swallow that up so we will cross the bridges, the swing bridge, the belchina bridge, the belcan bridge, I would say with at least a 2,000 vote cushion and there is no way they can make that up on the north side of the city.”
