Teakettle Shooter Caught

Belmopan police are reporting tonight that they have charged a man for a Saturday night shooting which left a man hospitalized. He's 58 year-old Jose Luis Herrera, a resident of Santa Teresa Village, and he's facing charges of attempted murder and use of deadly means of harm.

Police say that around 11:50 p.m. on February 24, they were alerted to a shooting incident at the Gato Verde Bar, which is located in the Arizona area of Teakettle Village.

29 year-old Adolfo Flores reported to the cops that he was at the bar when he got into an argument with someone he knew as "Alex Hernandez". Flores said that this "Alex" pulled out a 9mm pistol and fired 2 shots in air, and another on the ground. That shot hit him in the left leg and exiting in the back. He had to be rushed to the Western Regional Hospital for treatment.

Well, 2 days later, police say that they arrested and charged Jose Luis Herrera for the incident. They are in possession of what they believed to have been the weapon which was used in the shooting.

Police say that Jose Luis Herrera will be facing additional charges for the injuries that Adolfo Flores suffered, as soon as the medico legal report is available.
