Briceno Blasts Boots
posted (March 5, 2018)
John Briceno wants the Prime Minister to fire Minister of Social Development, Boots Martinez and the Commissioner of police to investigate him on an allegation of corruption.

Hoping to build as much public pressure as possible before the election, The Leader of the Opposition has sent letters to those two and the Director of the Financial Intelligence Unit.

He alleges that Martinez was operating an illegal and corrupt scheme through the contractor who claims he wasn't a contractor, Kirk Lamb. Briceno alleges, quote, "This is a clear abuse of public funds...

Briceno tells the PM, quote, "I demand that:
You fire the Hon.Anthony "Boots" Martinez for his breach of public trust; and that, "You ensure that Government officials cooperate with the authorities to ensure that a thorough investigation is conducted leading to criminal prosecution." Similarly, he asks the Commissioner of Police to do, quote, "an urgent investigation into the allegations made by Mr. Lamb." The letter continues, quote, "The explanations given by Hon. Martinez are laughable… I await your written confirmation that you have directed an investigation into this matter, failing which I will initiate legal action to compel you to do so."

Briceño warns, quote, "There will be no cover-up, Mr. Commissioner." Bricneo also writes to the Director of the Financial Intelligence Unit, Kent Clare, saying, quote, "it is therefore your duty to investigate this illegal operation that was being carried on which has resulted in the loss of public monies." He also warns Clare, quote, "there will be no cover up."
