Grandmother Murdered
posted (March 10, 2020)

65-year-old Grandmother Carolyn Orio nee Arnold was found at 6:25 this morning in the Lake Garden area of Ladyville. She was wounded, lifeless, and partially nude.

Arnold was killed just around the corner from her home, her body left discarded and badly brutalized.

So who would have done this, and why?  We put that question to the police and this afternoon Superintendent Alejandro Cowo said this was no robbery, given that Arnold's belongings, a cell phone, a gold chain, and her eyeglasses, were found with her at the scene.

Supt. Alejandro Cowo

OC, CIB Belize City

"This morning at about 6:30 police received information of a female body that was sighted in a road in the Lake Garden area near the M&M construction site as result police visited the scene where they observed the motionless body of a female person lying face-up on the street side with an apparent injury to the body. The person was identified as that of Sherrilyn Joan Arnold 65 years from a Lake Garden address..

Reporter: Reporter: So is there any idea what could have been the possible motive for this to have been done to her?

Supt. Alejandro Cowo

OC, CIB Belize City

"We are interviewing the family members at this moment so that we can establish the exact motive as to this incident as that is all the information that we have up to this time. We know that she resides in the Lake Garden area by herself and the last time she was seen was sometime last night by a friend when she from her house.

Reporter: Cherisse Halsall: Sir the name is Sherrilyn, not Caroline?

Supt. Alejandro Cowo

Reporter: Sir, the nature of the injuries are you able to share a little bit more?

It's a cut wound that she has to the upper body.
