And as a part of his own cabinet reshuffling, the PM also gave Minister Henry Charles Usher the responsibility for religious affairs. Concerns were voiced by groups and residents who felt that church and state should be separate and that to give one group of people that form of entitlement would only prove to be problematic. It also seemed like taking several steps backwards in regards to laws that have become long outdated. The focus seemed to be on Christian values - but the reality is that not all Belizeans are Christians and you don't have to be religious to have the same values. We brought those concerns to the PM today.
